Hover Over Course Row to ExitThe Brabazon Course at The De Vere Belfry, is truly unique in the world of golf and needs little introduction. The reason: It is the only golf course in the world that has hosted The Ryder Cup on four occasions. The Belfry has so many memorable golf holes; it is difficult to single them all out. The Ninth is a great sweeping dog leg to a waterside green. The 10th is the ultimate risk/reward hole, a short par 4 driveable for some and does not offer an easy lay up. The 18th is steeped in tradition and has been the site of 3 great European Ryder Cup wins. The Belfry is home to the Quinn Direct British Masters and has hosted the Benson & Hedges International Open, the PGA Seniors' Championship as well as the Ryder Cup.*This is a conversion of Jim Dickson's great rendition originally created for CPG1 and updated for CPG2010.More [+] |

Hover Over Course Row to ExitBuilt to stage the 2010 Ryder Cup, the first course to be built specifically for golf's greatest team tournament, it measures a robust 7,493 yards off the back tees and has a par of 71.With water hazards on half of its holes, the course has six signature holes and presents many more memorable tests andrisk-and-reward dilemmas. One of the features of the spectacular new course is its variety with many of the earlier holes having a links-like feel with some long rough and greenside swales, before the middle section of the course reveals the full extent of the lake-lined challenge.A tough finishing stretch culminates in a real sting in the tail at the 18th.This is a conversion of Jim Dickson's excellent CPG1 rendition with minor changes based on updates made by European captain Colin Montgomerie. Hover Over Course Row to ExitThe legendary Great White Course is enjoyable for the high handicap player while maintaining the integrity of the course for the accomplished player. In designing the Great White, Norman blended strategically demanding fairways with hundreds of palm trees. He then laid out the course in a manner where water comes into play on 14 of the 18 holes, which makes for a challenging, but picturesque Great White Golf Course. On December 6, 2005, Doral Golf Resort & Spa unveiled the "New Look" Great White Golf Course. Highlighting the enhancements to the Great White Golf Course was the re-design of the 6th and 15th holes, as well as all bunkers. The course also received new landscaping, as thousands of native grasses were planted around the course, while cart paths were installed at strategic locations throughout the course for improved drainage. Hover Over Course Row to ExitThe region in and around Portland, Oregon has some of the most incredible public courses per capita in the nation - in my opinion - lol. This is a course that I have played on occasion and it is not particularly difficult but it is fun. Heavily treed with some water on the back 9 bring the difficulty up just a notch or so.I haven't created a course since doing so since the game was first introduced, so I had to learn the designer from scratch. So this one is simple but fun.SteveMore [+] |

Hover Over Course Row to ExitI have finally completed my first golf course designed for CPG2010. I hope that even though it is my first design - it will stand the test when compared to some of the better courses designed for this game.Firstly a disclaimer: this course is distributed as freeware to CustomPlay Golf users. If you are interested in using any of my custom objects for your own designs, please let me know, and I will too provide these as freeware. The freeware license applies only insofar as the actual Royal Harare Golf Club.cpg file is not altered that is, the file should not be altered to be used with other software based on the CPG engine such as custom simulators. This work is my own, and any use of it other than the one I intended, is strictly forbidden without my previous consent. Why did I choose to design the Royal Harare Golf Club (RHGC)? Simply put - it is one of my favourite courses - and very dear to my heart. I have played there many times - and one might say that I know the details and intricacies of the course inside out. I have tried to bring the most authentic experience possible - and have kept everything as real as I could. Here is a list of things I tried to do to achieve realism:1. Tree height placement has been done individually - i.e. - I have placed every single tree in the course one by one - checking the height according to my photographs - and matching this to the in-game model. Although the tree types are different from the actual ones (since the available treehouse models are European/America/Asian and we do not have a wide choice of trees indigenous to southern Africa) - these trees visually best reflect the actual trees found at the RHGC. The few purple trees that you will find are actually meant to reflect the Jacaranda tree which when in bloom, is entirely purple (bloom is in late September/October). 2. I used the blueprint tool and used the Google overhead map for a subtle course overlay (44% transparency) - meaning that the distances and dimensions are very accurate, and the look¯ of the fairway is more in line with the actual look because a lot of the yellows from the course overlay have been blended in. 3. I created custom objects to bring an authentic feel to the course. One of my biggest achievements in this respect is the clubhouse - which is very accurate in all respects (dimensions, textures) - and in my opinion brings an important realistic overall feel to the finished golf course. My other custom objects include the flag post and Zimbabwean flag, the benches with adverts for Air Zimbabwe and ZimPlats who are the sponsors of the RHGC, the club notice board which is used for tournament results and other info, and the eastside fence. All objects were modeled in Google Sketchup 7, imported to 3DSMax 7, and then exported as CO2 object files. I created the eastside fence because the available transparent¯ wire fence objects are created by applying a transparent TGA file to the model this creates a fuzzy view from the distance so I modeled my fence as an actual 3d object which is not distance-sensitive. In addition to this, I modeled the tennis courts, the cricket pitch, and the rugby field by utilizing ground textures and existing pole objects. All other objects used are not mine, and credit goes to the original creators. 4. Overall scenery is very accurate the Harare Sports Club to the south of the golf course has been modeled to include the national cricket pitch, the rugby field, and the Harare Tennis Club with a number of grass and clay courts. These are all seen from the course preview flyby. 5. The course flyby has also been created to show you a gentle overview of the course I have modeled the camera to target the middle of the RHGC and created a wide flight pattern so that all the details and scenery can be seen (the sports club, the residential area, the agricultural fields to the east, the clubhouse). I made sure that the camera rotates smoothly and that it really feels like a flyby from a helicopter as opposed to the usual jerky camera seen in other course flybys. 6. The panorama I used comprises of a layered tree line without any major landmarks except the Millennium Towers¯ which are actually visible towards the south of the course. Actually, from the 6th hole teebox, the Millennium Towers¯ are very visible so I aligned the panorama perfectly to create the same view you would see if you'd actually play the course. I will also post some actual photos for comparison of visual authenticity. 7. Concerning elevation RHGC is a flat golf course. The north-west of the course has a slight incline of a couple of meters, and the south-east has a slight decline of equal measure. I have portrayed these variations in the design but overall I left the majority of the course flat not because it was easier but because this is actually how the course feels and plays. One of the major elevation issues when designing the RHGC were the elevated greens. Also, there is no water/hazards and the only out of bounds¯ is the perimeter of the golf course (fence). 8. Elevated greens are the main feature¯ of the RHGC. This is actually what makes the course challenging in addition to the numerous bunkers surrounding the greens. I have done my best to portray the green elevations and the overall bunker shape/depth by individually shaping each of these independently and with differing parameters. So some bunkers were shaped using different methodology to create a different feel. Green breaks are not abundant at the RHGC but some holes like the 5th and the 9th have easily identifiable breaks, and varying elevation while a couple of others have a more subtle but equally difficult break pattern. Generally the greens are flat with subtle break variations. 9. All tee positions have been incorporated. Black (tournament), white (men), blue (youth/senior), red (ladies). Each hole has 5 pin placements, 1 hard, 3 normal, and 1 easy. Each of the pin placements has been chosen according to actual photographs and positions. 10. Lastly, there are 7 ground templates (and some other aesthetic ones for paths and dirt) that I used. Default tee, default fairway, default rough, default fringe, default green, default sand and my own light rough¯ template. This template is designed as a fairway/rough¯ hybrid. I have individually adjusted each template option to create the feel of the Zimbabwean rough. There is very little actual deep rough at the RHGC, so I created the light rough template because the rough around the fairway is actually very forgiving. The default rough would therefore not be very realistic in terms of playability. I know that messing around with the template options is dangerous as it can lead to strange/unrealistic results but I believe that my light rough template is spot on.Finally, I would like to give a very brief overview of the RHGC.The elegant clubhouse and general atmosphere at Royal Harare Golf Club reminds one of colonial days. One of the only 5 courses in southern Africa granted "Royal" status, the classy Zimbabwe club can be proud of its heritage. Its course, one of the best in Africa, was a learning ground for some of the great players this country has produced, like Nick Price, Mark McNulty and Tony Johnstone.Royal Harare is comfortably spread out on a large tract of land in the city's green and spacious northern suburbs. The national botanical gardens are just across the road to the northwest, but the course itself is a good advertisement for the beautiful old indigenous trees and shrubs of the region. The kikuyu-grass fairways and Macginnes-grass greens are invariably in immaculate condition, and even the rough is well groomed. Overall the feel and atmosphere is a peaceful one, and this can lull one into a false sense of security and ease. The six-hole stretch from the 13th into the clubhouse includes 2 tough par-fours (the 14th and 18th), making for an absorbing finish on this championship course. Some of the holes appear dangerously simple but the elevated greens and numerous bunkers mean that this is a precision-play course.I hope you will enjoy this creation and I hope my 70+ hours of work have not been wasted ;-) Once you have played - please let me know your thoughts... and of course - if there are any bugs - shout out!Good luck and catch you in game sometime soon,Goran Unkovski (Sodaboy) More [+] |

Hover Over Course Row to ExitWith tight fairways, intimidating water hazards and abundant bunkers, the newly renovated and lengthened Island course is considered by many to be no less demanding than the Copperhead. The Island has played host to numerous U.S. Open qualifiers, NCAA Championships and has been ranked among the country's top 50 resort courses by Golf Digest and No. 14 in Travel and Leisure Golf's "Fifty Finest in Florida." The Island's first six holes are bordered by beautiful Lake Innisbrook and lateral water hazards that require pinpoint accuracy on tee shots and approaches. The middle six holes feature rolling hills dominated by cypress and pine trees. The final third of this course boasts a mixture of holes designed to reward the bold and penalize the errant golf shot. Your round will end at a finishing hole that's withstood the test of the world's most skilled players and is one of the most photographed in Florida.Par: 71More [+] |

Hover Over Course Row to ExitMuirfield Village: When Jack Nicklaus decided to hold his own tournament he went about it with every bit as much seriousness as he approached his game. With The Masters as his model, Mr. Nicklaus designed and built his own course among the rolling terrain of Dublin, Ohio near his hometown of Columbus. The course opened in 1974 and ever since has been the site of The Memorial, a tournament that honors the greatest players each year and one of the premier stops on PGA Tour. The course though, is one of Mr. Nicklaus' very best layout with fast fast bent grass greens and water, water everywhere.I fixed the water problem, added a course overlay. Looks good, and plays well. Hover Over Course Row to ExitThe Ocean Course: Located on the Pacific Coast Highway just below Newport Beach, the magnificent Tom Fazio designed course descends downward toward the jagged Pacific shore returning to the lavish Clubhouse complex. Along the way spectacular ocean views across rugged arroyos and canyons threaten to distract the golfers concentration. Yet this course demands full mental attention because it is very tricky and especially difficult when the wind is up. Steep elevation changes make club seclection difficult. Fairways slope considerably so that proper shot placement is essential to achieving a good score. An unusual characteristic of the course is the number and sequencing of the short holes. There are five Par 3's and two of them, the Twelfth and Thirteenth are grouped together on the cliffs above the beach. The very short Thirteenth features dual greens surrounded by sand and brush. Also unusual for a Par 70 layout is the presence of three Par 5's, the Eight on the front and the Fourteenth and Seventeenth on the back. Two Par 4's the Ninth and the Tenth are very long and perhaps the most difficult on the course.More [+] |

Hover Over Course Row to ExitQuail Hollow Club is one of the finest courses in the Southeast United States. The private member club hosted the Kemper Open from 1969 to 1979 and has more recently been the site of a Senior PGA TOUR event hosted by club member Arnold Palmer. Since 2003 it has been the site of the PGA Tour Wachovia Championship every year in May.The course was originally designed by famed golf course architect George Cobb in 1961 to capture the beauty as well as challenging terrain of the Piedmont region. In the intervening years, the course underwent a series of improvements, including modifications of several holes by Arnold Palmer in 1986 and a redesign by Tom Fazio in 1997 and 2003.Throughout the course, exquisitely manicured greens follow the unusual contours of the hills to present a challenge to even the sharpest short game. Course highlights include hole #7, which is transected by a serpentine pond; signature hole #17, 200+ yards over water; and, for a suitably challenging finish, hole #18, which must be negotiated over a deep creek bed that runs the length of the fairway. Thanks to Mike (spikel), Mick (oldpro3138) and Marc Allen for their comments and testing to help ready the course for release. This is my third go at this course, but the first for CPG2. It is (I think) my best attempt so far. Thanks to Custom Play Games for giving us this great tool to bring real courses to life. More [+] |

ZagerDesign | Hover Over Course Row to ExitThe Ridges Golf Course is a real course located in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. It is 6,289 yards long and plays to a par of 72. The front 9 was built in 1963 and the back 9 was added later. This rendition is mostly true to the original course. I did create a fictional tee on about half the holes that makes the course longer to keep the hazards in play for the 300+ yard drives of WGC. When playing the "WGC" tee, the tee markers that are black are fictional tees while the ones that are blue are the real blue tee. You can play from the real blue tees the whole round or any of the other real tees by choosing them in the game options. I find it fun to occasionally take the driver or even all woods out of the bag and play from these shorter tees. The other disclaimer to the realism of this is that over the past few years, some of the bunkers on the course were removed or made smaller. I think the way they were before made the course more interesting so I left them in for this rendition. I did include some of the newer changes they made too though such as the concrete cart paths. So in a way this rendition is sort of a hybrid of old and new. There are five pins on each hole: three normal pins, one easy pin and one hard. I did this because three pins do not make for enough variety in my opinion. If you need a consistent pin placement for tournaments or multiple groups playing online, choose either the easy or hard pin.Hope you enjoy the course.BrianMore [+] |

Hover Over Course Row to ExitCourse designed by A.W. Tillinghast in 1918 I believe. The club was founded in 1899 (wow that was a long time ago) but was later moved to the new location (over an old horse racetrack in New Jersey) where Tillinghast worked his magic. Not the longest course (about 6700 yards) but hitting the fairways is difficult due to the doglegs, odd angles and elevation changes. Turning up the wind really doubles the difficulty factor because of the extreme elevations on many of the holes. Most bunkers are shallow but the very thick and long dead rough makes up for them since it creeps very close to the fairways and greens.Hope you all enjoy it. BJ actually has played this course in real life since he grew up close by and when play testing he remembered many of the holes and referenced how difficult the course actually played, pretty cool. This course is featured in Golf Digest top 100 US courses.More [+] |

Thanks to Nike for doing the bulk of the conversion work.More [+] |

In 1905, it was expanded to 18 holes and in 1988 it was re-designed to championship standards by Donald Steel. This is a conversion of a course I created for the original Custom Play Golf. Hover Over Course Row to ExitI had the pleasure to play several of the Monterey courses last year on a "dream" golf trip with my brother, nephew and a good friend. Spanish Bay was actually my favorite of the bunch which is saying a lot since we also logged a round at Pebble Beach (very close 2nd). The course was designed using a DEM for primary elevations and countless hours sculpting each hole, referencing digital photos we had taken and memory from my round. I feel this rendition does justice to the course and will give you a chance to experience this pacific coast gem.BJ.More [+] |

Hover Over Course Row to ExitNamed after the third Marquess of Ailsa, who owned the land on which it was built, this championship course is one of golf's storied places. Home to three Open Championships, Ailsa has shaped some of the most remarkable moments in the tournament's history. Its first three holes pose a fairly tough opening, particularly when the wind blows from the direction of its namesake, the brooding isle of Ailsa Craig, 11 miles out to sea. From the 4th hole to the 11th, the coastal scenery is magnificent and the course is demanding. Commanding a passage of stout hitting throughout, the 5th to the 8th holes are framed by sandy hillocks, while the 9th, 10th and 11th are flanked by craggy rocks. On its stony ridge on the edge of the sea, the 9th hole is Turnberry's trademark. The landmark lighthouse casts shadows over the 13th-century ruins of Bruce's Castle, the reputed birthplace of Scotland's hero king Robert the Bruce, and the narrow path to the tee and the drive across the corner of the bay fill players with trepidation. The back nine, like the front nine, require both cleverness and control. The steep incline of the plateau green on the 13th hole, ”Tickly Tap" or "Tricky Little Stroke" makes one of the largest putting surfaces on the course look rather small. Likewise, the subtle contours of the 17th hole, Lang Whang, slightly obstruct each shot also characteristic of the trickery of Turnberry. On the 18th, with the red-roofed hotel in sight to distract, gorse running down the right side and small dunes peeking up just enough to block your view of the landing zone, finding the fairway is even more difficult. On 16 July 2009, this legend of the game will test the skill of the world's best once more as The Open Championship returns to Ailsa.Par: 70More [+] |
