Ken Mc Arch file
Guys,
What was the Ken McHale arch file that was made available - can't remember which one or where to find it but I'm sure it was made available at some point.
Cheers
Duncan

Re: Ken Mc Arch file
Cheers Stan - thanks for looking in to it
It was actually an arch file, rather then the library or course file of one of his courses (Mecklenburg Greens sounds right) - ring any bells?

Re: Ken Mc Arch file
There were 3 arch files included with PGA2000 (not sure if they were also on the CE edition). They are found on the root of CD1 in the Sample Courses folder and are:
Abernathy Park by Steve Opfer
Mecklenburg Greens by Ken McHale
Jocassee Shoals by Jim Dickson

Re: Ken Mc Arch file
Sorry about the ongoing Newbie questions, but what's an arch file? If I thought I was Sherlock Holmes (who I'm not) then I would guess it means archive, but still it begs the Newbie question, what's the point of an arch file supplied in conjunction with this game.
Cheers, Dave

Re: Ken Mc Arch file
Libraries are architect (arch) files.
There is one file in each version of the game that is named Arch file.
It contains 3D objects like structures, bridges, miscellaneous, buildings, stairs, walkways, walls, fences & tournament objects.
All architect files are merely libraries.

Re: Ken Mc Arch file
An arch file (course name.ach) is the file created by designers using the Course Architect. Before you get to play the course the designer must first 'compile' the arch file which then provides the course file (course name.crs) . Additionally, new libraries and course notes, music etc can also be added and then all compressed into an .xcr file which to all intents and purposes is the same as a .zip file.
A designer will completely understand the above. Everyone else just downloads the course and installs it, no questions asked

Ahhhh... thanks JJ
Re: Ken Mc Arch file
Stan! You seem to be confused! JJ is right, the arch file in question has a .ach extension, which is the original course architect file.

Re: Ken Mc Arch file
Not confused at all. Thank you.
Mecklenburg Green is the course Ken allowed in the game for people to sample the use of the architect.
Also for sample are Abernathy Park by Steve Opfer and Jocassee Shoals by Jim Dickson.
Interesting, Fade took all three, changed textures and submitted them as his own.
Kenway Greens GC, Maitland Park and Coastal Retreat are the courses.
I thought Duncan was looking was looking for a different sample.
