Just a question about your opinion or preference. When You have a rough texture and then you drop a weed rough next to or around it should the weed rough be darker or lighter than the rough texture or the same?
I prefer darker.

I prefer a little darker as well, though not much. I use photoshop to adjust my textures and if I want it to appear a little dryer than the rough, I will add a little red to the green and blue source channels using the channel mixer. If I want it to be a bit more "rich", I will add a little green to the red and blue source channels instead.
