Scenery

I'm fiddling around with scenery, and am getting a bit stuck.
I have a panorama file which I would like to use which covers about 150 degrees of the view. Given the terrain and trees getting in the way, that is the part of the view that I need.
However when I convert it to .TGA format and then load it in as a Panorama in the Sky layer, the view gets stretched into a 360o full circle panorama. Obviously that is distorting the image.
Other than going out and redoing a 360o panorama (which would look weird, because right behind me are some trees), are there any tips on how to do scenery?
