first impressions w/ skylark & WGT

I did a boat load of research before I finally dropped the hammer and bought a skylark w/ the play and improve package. I read so many awful things about skylark technical support and I was personally really turned off by there business model as a whole. It felt like they were just shameless about trying to squeeze every penny they could out of their flagship product. So, after reading what felt like an endless slew of posts about bad experiences anytime they had to get repairs done or get help with setup, I had logically decided to suck it up and keep hitting balls out in the freezing temps like I have in the past. Then I saw the $300 discount was posted all over the web. I've always been a sucker for a discount. The interest that I'm gonna have to pay over the next two years to pay this thing off will certainly offset that discount a couple times over. I just couldn't help myself. There is no arguing the fact that the skylark is simply in a league of its own in regard to the value that it presents at that price relative to the big boys. So, 12 hours in, what do I think? Love it. It's probably one of the coolest things I've ever bought. I love it for what it does. But I kind of hate for what it does as well. The WGT (World Golf Tour) is a never ending barage of "just buy this one other thing". The entire application is littered with this exhaustingly flagrant monetization of every aspect of the app. They even want you to pay for the privilege of having digital representations of your own clubs or whatever clubs you want to have. I just took on roughly $2800 in debt so that I can enjoy what is certainly a marvelous bit of kit. And when I finally get a chance to sink my teeth into a little, I've got to deal with this nonstop selling of nonsense. It makes a mockery of what is otherwise a significant innovation that could potentially spark some life into the game. I don't know if the other notable golf sims (perfect golf, the golf club,e6 true golf) have followed suit, but I'm certainly going to find out. If it meant that I don't ever have to use WGT again, I'd be more than happy to shell out a few more hundred bucks.

welcome to the forum by product. I know that Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf offers interfaces to many golf sims like sky track and trackman as well as others. I would love to have one but golf sim are a little on the spendy side. Good luck in your search.

I assume you mean you purchased A SkyTrak not a Skylark right? Also, because I assume you are using iOS because you are using the WGT simulation software, you are aware that the other SkyTrak simulation software offerings only work with a PC right? Since you are posting this on the WGC 2011 forum, why not consider buying our Fitness Golf software which uses the 160 WGC 2011 courses? You can learn about it here:
