Chloe Ann Golf Club

While I'm in the process of uploading to Golf Sim Clubhouse today, Chloe Ann Golf Club (my latest design for PGA 2000) is available now at my website.

http://www.steveopfer.com/computer-golf ... esign.html

There's a gallery with a dozen screenshots from the course. You can also download the course architect file. On the downside, GoDaddy limits me to 30 MB files, so you'd have to download the xcr file in five pieces, then join them with the free file splitter I provide (from Glary Utilities). This xcr file includes all of the custom libraries (Arrowhead Golf Club, August National 2001, Coos Bay, Cypress, Ocean Side, Parkland, The Legacy, and Woodford Park), so you might just want to wait and get the easier download here at Golf Sim Clubhouse.

The course itself is a little goofy for one of my designs 'cause I was playing around for the most part. Each loop consists of three par 3s, three par 4s, and three par 5s. That makes for a lot of three iron shots (which I suck at), so I'm not real happy with the course's playability per se. That's why I've made the architect file available; if you want to play with it, change it, reissue it, then have at it. ;)

On the other hand, I LOVE all of these custom libraries created by all the "greats" from back in the day. I used the Arrowhead grass textures, but--in a last minute decision--substituted the Cypress green and fringe textures; I think the result was great. I used Coos Bay for the pano 'cause it has one of the very best skies, looked great, and was generic enough for the setting since there's no land in the pano. I used Ocean Side, Parkland, The Legacy, and Woodford Park objects, as well as plenty from the stock courses. I also used a couple of objects from Cypress as one-time landmarks through the course.

All-in-all, I had a lot of fun designing Chloe Ann and hope you have fun with it too. BTW--The name is in honor of my grand daughter that's due to enter this world in late September.

I was going to beat the rush so I D/Led the arch file and got all the libraries you listed but when I open the file I have 2 placeholder libraries. Are you sure that's all the libraries? Screenshots of the course look great. Can't wait to play.

Thanks for the kudos on the screenshots!

Black Diamond Ranch, Bridges, Buildings, Canaveral Dunes, Coeur d'Alene, Gloucester, Monterey Shores, Pasatiempo, Pete Dye, Princeville, Royal Birkdale, Sahalee, Tournament and Whisperwood are also used, but I thought all of those were stock libraries.

These are the only other libraries listed in the "Course Properties" section in the Course Manger software.

Ah ha!! Found it! The architect lists Bullock Run and North American Woods as used libraries. I recall using them now to swap out for a few objects at the last minute, but I don't know why the Course Manger "Properties" wouldn't list them.

Placeholder libraries are gone. Now it won't compile. I've never seen that. Any ideas?

I haven't seen that. It did give me warnings after compiling, however; it says the pins are not on the greens. That's not true. The hole definition tool shows the pins right where they're supposed to be and it works fine inside the game. I think the architect didn't know what to think after I did a global changes of all the green textures.

I've had that same message before (the pins are not on the greens) but I don't recall it causing any playing issue's once I made sure that the statement was false.

I've adjusted my webpage accordingly based on this conversation.

http://www.steveopfer.com/computer-golf ... esign.html

I've offered the xcr compressed course file as uploaded to Golf Sim Clubhouse (without the custom libraries), provided a link to download all the custom libraries, then provided the ach file for direct download from my site. Don't let the Cypress green and fringe textures fool you; they ALWAYS display warnings after compiling; I've tested it on multiple courses, but it works fine in the game.

If I remember correctly, you need the exact same file as another player if you want to play with them online. The xcr file I'm offering on my website is the exact same one I uploaded, so anyone who gets it should have the "official" file and be able to play with others.

If you download the ach file, then compile the course on your own, you will NOT be able to play with others online because (technically) you have a "different" course (the result of you compiling it on your own). I made the ach file available so that designers could play with it and possibly issue their own version of this course at a later date. I think that's in keeping with the spirit of the original consultancy I did with Headgate and Sierra Sports. The idea was to provide ach files on the CD to inspire others to take up the design hobby and crank out some free product. I'm all for that, so please....have at it!

Hope that helps! Enjoy!

The course is now available here. If you'd like we can also host the architect file here as well, we have several others at the bottom of the utilities page already.
