The overall winner of the 2010-2011 course contest is Glen Haven by Adam Brandt.
Here is how the voting went.
Notice that I divided the voting group into two sub-groups:
-Player/Designers who voted (9)
-Players-only (non-designers) who voted (10)

…………………………………………………………… ……….. Overall Avg ……….. Votes
1 Glen Haven by Adam Brandt ……….. 913 ……….. 19
2 Mamacs Retreat by Links Legend ……….. 885 ……….. 19
3 Alkimos Golf Links by Craig Johnson ……….. 876 ……….. 19
4 Point Reyes National by Steve Horn ……….. 861 ……….. 19
5 Gunpowder Bay by Doron Cook. ……….. 788 ……….. 19

Ranked by Player/Designers (P/D) who voted
…………………………………………………………… ……….. P/D* ……….. Votes
1 Glen Haven by Adam Brandt ……….. 922 ……….. 9
2 Mamacs Retreat by Links Legend ……….. 914 ……….. 9
3 Alkimos Golf Links by Craig Johnson ……….. 882 ……….. 9
4 Point Reyes National by Steve Horn ……….. 817 ……….. 9
5 Gunpowder Bay by Doron Cook. ……….. 810 ……….. 9
* P/D denotes Player-Designer

Ranked by Players-Only (P), non-designers who voted
…………………………………………………………… ……….. P ** ……….. Votes
1 Glen Haven by Adam Brandt ……….. 906 ……….. 10
2 Point Reyes National by Steve Horn ……….. 901 ……….. 10
3 Alkimos Golf Links by Craig Johnson ……….. 871 ……….. 10
4 Mamacs Retreat by Links Legend ……….. 859 ……….. 10
5 Gunpowder Bay by Doron Cook. ……….. 769 ……….. 10
** P denotes Player-only

Player/Designers barely favored Glen Haven over Mamacs Retreat, and were quite penalizing on the Point Reyes course.
Players-Only also favored Glen Haven, but the Point Reyes course was a very close second here.

I am not sure what conclusions can be drawn from this. Perhaps the designers
placed more emphasis on technical design aspects while non-designers emphasized
playability and challenge.

Anyway, a big contratulations to Adam for a job well done… and to all designers who participated. There were no losers here.
I guess all that remains is for you to get your prizes. If I recall correctly, those were:
1. A complete DVD set of all courses and Libraries
2. A dozen golf balls
3. A $25 gift certificate.

Well done to all the designers and particularly Adam, I definitely think it was the most complete overall package and those textures just added another level to the overall achievement. Glen Haven is an instant classic for me. Congrats again!!

I also just wanted to say a massive thanks to all those that took the time to vote and particularly post reviews - its such a vital part of feedback, and much appreciated by all designers I'm sure.

Huge thanks, as ever, to Brian and Dar for their various efforts including building the plot and managing the process - you guys rock.

Congratulations to Adam on finding the right combination for designers and players to enjoy :) Thanks to Brian and Dar for their efforts in making the contest work. Glad to see the community involved in feedback and encouragement - kinda reminds me of the Tee Box days :) I think that if we are not going to design a course or contribute a file, we ought to at least contribute our voice of encouragement and perspective - the courses I've made with my family were not short projects and I don't think I would have gotten involved with them if there wasn't anyone to enjoy the work when we got through. I am sure these fine designers feel the same - hats off to all of you - not a bad course in this bunch and I truly mean that!!!

Wow, I truly didn't imagine winning this contest! If I could have voted on my own course, I certainly wouldn't have voted it #1, as the other designs were top notch. I truly appreciate everyone's comments and all the kind words. I love designing courses and love even more the opportunity to share them with this very fine community! I have learned so much from everyone here and continue to do so. I'd especially like to thank Brian and Dar for undertaking the creation of the new site. If it weren't for their efforts this contest wouldn't have been possible, and this game may have been forgotten all together. Also a special thank you to everyone who voted, and also to those who gave their reviews of the courses. I will always enjoy being a part of this community and hope it stays alive for a long time!

Adam, we like you, we really really like you! :bg:
Congratulations on winning and many kudos and thumbs up to all 5 of you. IIRC all of my marks were within 75 points of each other and I'm glad I wasn't alone in having to pick a winner.

Well done to all the designers, and to everyone that voted.
I wish I had the time to do them justice.
PGA is alive and well, and still creative.
