Sorry about such a long delay on my play. Played this one immediately after my round at Patagonia Plains and could not have felt more different, but the warmup there in mild winds had me dialed in for this round which has much easier lies. Dragon's Tail is a remarkably well done golf course.

Here is my first round there.

Hi Guys,

just watched Tarheel's first round at Dragon's Trail, against my own round, and what a contest it was.

We went blow for blow for the first seven holes and then I took a one shot lead on the eighth. We continued scoring the same for the next five holes and then Tarheel parred a couple of holes that I birdied. I thought I was pretty safe then, but what does he go and do: he goes and gets an Ace on the sixteenth (What a shot!). Thankfully I drained a long, curly putt to restrict the damage to one, and as we shared the honours on the last two holes I came out a very relieved winner.

Fantastic round by Tarheel, and as his score didn't affect his handicap, and mine did, I think the FedUp Cup just got closer again!

Love it!

Cheers

Brad

Hi Guys,

given the 2023 FedUp Cup has turned into a two-horse race between Tarheel and myself, I am going to look at the formulas, to see if I can make it closer for everybody. I think this may involve some sort of loading based on people's handicap, but I haven't started to play around with it just yet. I'll use the 2023 scores to see how it all might work. Hopefully, this will make the Old Timers Competition more interesting for all who compete.

Cheers

Brad

Hi Guys,

just watched Juan's final round for the 2023 competition. I thought I was in for something special when he chipped in for birdie on the first. He was going well and his putter was behaving, until he hit the branches of a tree on 5 and bogeyed. That seemed to put him off his game for a while, with a couple of duff hooks and hitting into a ravine damaging his score. To his credit, he regained his composure and finished the last five holes without dropping a shot. Given his putting problems of the past, in the main, he putted really well in this round and was very unlucky when a very long, curving putt on Hole 8 did about a 130 degree lip out.

I think we will see some good things from Juan in 2024.

Cheers

Brad

Hi Guys,

just a reminder that I have started a new post for the 2024 competition. So, when you play new rounds, please make sure you post them there.

Thanks

Brad
