Round 2 at Santa Clara Dunes. The greens were maybe a bit more forgiving but I did avoid what happened in the first round. A tough course but very enjoyable to play as are most of Dennis' designs.

I just watched Galen's Rd 2 and for a bit of fun I thought I'd watch it against Randy's Rd 2. I am so glad I did. These two fine gentlemen are on the same handicap, so I expected a tight tussle, and as you can see from their drives on the first hole, they weren't about to let me down.



Randy jumped off to a quick start and was two up after five, but consecutive birdies to Galen on 8 and 9 meant we were all square after nine holes. Galen birdied 10 as well, to take the lead, but this was short-lived, as Randy birdied 11 to square the match again.

Galen had an unfortunate lip-out on 13 which led to Randy taking the lead again, and a great approach on 14 saw Randy double his advantage. But, Galen wasn't finished yet. A really good putt on 16 brought the deficit back to one, and when he nailed his approach on 17 we were back to square, with it all to play for on the final hole.

Not surprisingly, they tied this hole to end the match all square. They even had identical scores for each nine. Now that's what I call a good match!

I believe they then adjourned to the bar and shouted each other a well earned beer.

Round 3 on BigBird's Wetlands course. My swing erratic at times and I did get wet.

Enjoy your rounds

After tons of other golf rounds, I finally got my first round played on Santa Clara. Putting is really a challenge. Neat desert course.

Back side putting problem.

Round 2. I really surprised myself on this one, thinking the greens were not straightforward. I think I putted one of my best games in the last year and a half.
By the way, today is my 56th birthday, so this was a gift to myself

Round four at the Wetlands. Too bad BigBird isn't around anymore.

Round 3, the Wetlands. He really did a nice job on this course. Great choice.
