Royal Lytham

Post by Polslad »

I guess I must just be a sucker for punishment, but I laid out Royal Lytham & St Annes last night, one of the missing (in fact the only missing?) courses that is on the current Open rota.
See you all in 6 months, with less hair.

You and Dale are the best, Pols... you for links, Dale for other types of "real" courses. Good luck!

Has spent the last week reserching, but can confidently say, Earth moving equipment will be moving onto the landplot over the weekend to begin creating land shapes.
Pity really, the course will be obselete within 12 months, they are already making changes for next years Open.
Note to self: keep architect file, then update course after next years Open championship.

subj: saving arch file
date: 3 Feb 11

Message:
Smart thinking! I wish we had the original arch file for many of our classic "real" course designs that are now 8-10 years old, still in use on tour, and desperately in need of an update.

Have loved this course for quite awhile - glad to hear it is getting a look for the PC. I suppose what makes it even more exciting is Polsdad is taking the project on. That makes me think we might get something pretty close to the original :) Looking forward to tracking the progress of this one :)

The wife is working 2 night shifts trhis weekend, which means I get loads of free time to sit and move this project forward. Yippee.
I have completed 4 holes so far, 8, 9, 10 & 11, at the far end of the course, which required the most contouring.
The rest of the course is pretty flat with only local elevations, so I should start to zip through it pretty quick, if left alone.
See you all in 3 days with bleary red bloodshot eyes.

Swear to god the curse of the architect strikes again!
Everytime I near completion on a design, something will start to go wrong with my PC and it will breakdown.
This has happened on numerous occaisions.
Saturday, the whole thing went, just a flashing cursor on the screen, nothing else.
Had to take the thing in to PC World.
Thing is, if they wipe my disk, everything will be gone, and I just don't have the ummppphh to restart the project again, everything will be lost.
Shame really, I only had about 5 holes left to complete.
PC-less fro at least 2 weeks, what am I going to do with myself?
