PGA2000 from A to E
PGA2000 from A to E
Hey guys. I have just returned to this community from a long hiatus (8 years?) and have been trying to catch up with the works of art I missed. I thought it might be helpful if we as a community voted for the courses we liked the most for each letter of the alphabet. That way, newbies or long time away folks would not miss out on the spectacular courses - 1,600 courses is a overwhelming amount of courses - I sure don't want that many, but I also would like to have the ones that are generally considered to be the best. So here it goes - I have only gotten through to the letter E. My list for the top course from A-E then:
A - Arrowhead GC by Ekroth/Wagers - stunning visually, little on the easy side to play.
B - Billabong Sanctuary by Stefan Lawinski - simple style, great layout, not a big name but a big effort.
C - Coos Bay by DanO, Trives, Ekroth - the standard libraries for many other courses it would appear, fabulous blending and great atmosphere to play a round of golf in.
D - Del Boca Vista GC by Luke Phillips - other courses may look better but none have the neighborhoods this one does.
E - Eman Hills GC by Chris Anderson - a classic, still holds up - the original fall course
I know you guys have different opinions so let's hear them - I'm open to seeing the list revised a little My opinions, your mileage will vary

Sandwedge,
That is a tall order you have thrown out there... lol... nearly impossible I would say.
For years, I have been working on a list of courses that I consider to be a cut above the others. I have been fairly selective about what I pick and have validated most of them with guys who play regularly, but I still have just over 400 courses on my A-List.
I have that list as a download in the utilities section. You might take a look at that to see if that helps focus on some of the better courses.

Well I'll see what I can give you. I've played many courses but this list consist of only courses that I've played for tournaments. That gives me a real good more then once look but does'nt mean there aren't better ones that I havent given enough rounds or even played to evaluate throughly. 1600 is alot and I know I've missed plenty.

Re: PGA2000 from A to E
I am aware of the list - also aware that this question might be asking too much. One of the reasons I was interested I guess is because after so many libraries get installed, the architect starts to do funny things. If I were to have 400 courses installed (is that even possible ), I am sure the libraries would be above that threshhold. If I don't install all the courses; well frankly, I will never get around to playing them with my girls. I do appreciate your list - gives me a head start anyways My main thing is not to just come here and download courses but give feedback to encourage and appreciate those who work so hard to keep the community going. I'm not much of a thread starter but I want to let folks know our family is grateful. Note to Steve Horn - Bay Shore Links almost made my list for B - but unfortunately one of my daughters gave it a thumbs down Teenagers are hard to figure out sometimes We settled on Billabong Sanctuary instead. Thanks guys!tincup wrote:Sandwedge,

I wish we had more people with your attitude about posting Sandwedge. We all appreciate feedback on the courses or anything to do with PGA2000 for that matter.
By the way, last count, there are 734 libraries on the server.
Thanks,
Dar

Sandwedge,
I don't know if you have started further into the alphabet, but I review older courses and I'm getting one together probably early Sunday morning that starts with 'F'.

Get the cloaking tool off the utilities page. It allows you to "cloak" libraries so the game doesn't see them while you are in the architect. Then when you want to play again you simply open the cloaking tool and and uncloak them.sandwedge wrote: One of the reasons I was interested I guess is because after so many libraries get installed, the architect starts to do funny things. Re: PGA2000 from A to E
speaking of libraries, is there anyway to alphabitze them within the archietcht's library window?

Re: PGA2000 from A to E
Not that I know of. It sure would be nice when you have 50 or however many libs. uncloaked and to know Woodford Park would be at the end. As far as I know it's just at random.

Re libes and architect.
No, because the listings are alpha-numeric, not alphabetical.
With all but stock courses cloaked, this is what you see in your arch object/texture selection screen(s):
tournament-canaveral dune-pasatiempo (and about 8 other libes)
This is what your computer sees:
{3CC9D53B-8A57-4218-8AF3-739E99D6305C}.lsw
{3CCD9B60-EA3C-11D1-A70D-006008041BA3}.lsw
{6A38A380-4D68-11D2-B28A-00600804184B}.lsw
These are listed in your swap file in your Sierra folder. In essence, the first time you open the designer and click on an object or texture, your arch program is creating swap files; a large number of these is what swamps the arch memory. It's important to clear this out every once in a while when you're designing as too many of them can swamp your designer.
I also strongly suggest dl'ing and installing the Library Cloaker (CL) Tool. I don't know your computer system, but I know a couple of online players who have all 700+ libes and all 1600 courses installed. Their comps are old enough to use XP, so their RAM isn't getting overwhelmed. If you do install the CL Tool and have any problems, just ask and someone here will help you get it working.
