Update on Top 100 list

Post by A Brandt »

I mentioned in another post a while back that I was starting to compile a list of my top 100 courses. I have painfully opened every single course available (as of about 2 months ago), and narrowed my list down to roughly 395 courses. Now comes the hard part, actually playing several rounds on each and coming up with a consistent rating system. I'm hoping to have my list completed by the first of the year. As I said in the other post, my intention here is to give a solid list of courses to show the best of the best. Designers(including myself) can draw inspiration from these and players will find a great variety of challenging and realistic courses to play.

Man, you got that right. Judging courses is very subjective business. I would say it is virutally impossible to come up with a list of 100 that everyone would agree on. I have been at this for 10 years now and still get arguements on my choices for the A-List.

Best of luck in your endeavor... lol

Thanks Dar, I do agree that rating courses is very subjective. I suppose the real reason I'm taking this on is so I myself have a list of go-to courses whenever I need some inspiration or just want to play a round or two on a top-notch course. I realize some people won't agree on my list, but maybe that'll get some good conversation going ;)

Well, yeah, it's hard, just look at how many "top ten" shows there are for music.

I would say judge by compeletly objective aspects. Think of strategy, blends, smoothness of elevations, planting, etc, etc, etc. Tells us what YOU think about how well the course was constructed.
