Mygolfer Registrations

Post by tincup »

Since, January 1, 2011, there have been 192 resgristrations on the defunct Mygolfer site... 110 of those have come in the last three months (May-July). Admittedly, a few of those are spammers, but most look to be legit. People continue to try downloading courses from the old site.

It would seem that most of these new joiners dont bother to read the Mygolfer forum. There are plenty of messages there inviting them to join this site. Not many do.

I am continuing to delete the spam messages that hits the Mygolfer site so the invitation messages dont get lost in the clutter... but it doesnt seem to help much.

Dar! Sorry to say "I don't buy it" Suddenly since the sites defunct people are trying to register and not reading or replying to this site? Did we ever get that kind of response when it was up and running? I think maybe another golf site of some kind maybe advertising to join another site with a simular name and some people are trying to join the My Golfer site by mistake. Thats about all I can figure maybe happening. I doubt many are active users of PGA 2000 but I'm sure a few are.

It's also possible they are coming over here but not registering on the forum since you don't have to register to download courses here. I should probably look into getting the tracking code for downloads working. I almost had it working and then I got a job and didn't have time to mess around with it anymore and kind of forgot about it.

Brian, I used to like the download count and especially the rating system Copyright Club used. Of course the rating was about as accurate as that used by American Idol, but it was still pretty cool to know what courses are popular.

I think I have it set up right now. Won't know for a few days. It won't show on the site, only in my Google Analytics account. Dar will have access to this though and he can maybe post the download counts from time to time if he wants to. Again I don't know for sure if it's working yet though as it takes a few days to update.
