Overlook Ridge

Post by Sundance »

I'm trying to learn the 2025 Adobe Photoshop package which is so advanced over my familiar Photoshop 7. Been working on a new BG which I decided to piece together from my huge assortment of screen savers. Worked on it for over a month mostly because the new package wouldn't allow me to convert to the JN6 Designer. I finally went back to 7 to complete and naturally I have to put a course on it now. Will give a few preview shots in a few days as time allows. The course is called Overlook Ridge.

I want to showcase the new background but wanted to avoid the ground cover to some extent but it looks like I can't have it both ways. As I mentioned the BG is pieced together using Adobe 2025 and then reverting back to Photoshop 7. It has a very long way to go but here are a couple preview shots.Image

Thanks guys. It came out pretty good after many hours of tinkering with it. I even added a train on a mountain pass and a watermill. LOL

Wow, that is really spectacular!! I love it, Steve. The talent you and other designers have in creating graphics like this background is extremely impressive.
That's the kind of thing I'd love to be able to do someday for backgrounds and overheads. I'm not that talented (yet) in graphic design. I mostly use GIMP and Paint, but have played with tools like Canva, OpenArt, and Inkscape. I started playing with using AI (e.g. Dall-E, Imagen) to create course objects and it works pretty well. Still looking for any kind of tutorial, tips, or advice on how to create amazing hole and course overheads.

Thanks Rick. Unfortunately there are no tips or tricks to making overheads. What I did is the same as you are doing which is learning the programs you have at hand and experimenting with them. I started with a small photo program and eventually picked up Adobe Photoshop 7 and the book, Photoshop 7 for Dummies which I sorely needed and learned what I needed for the game and then expanded from there trying different techniques. Some work but most fail. My problem has always been that if I'm not interested in something then I can't get into it but if I really want to learn something I'm bullheaded to no end. After that it's repetition and experiment. From what I read into your post here you are definitely on the right track!!
