Re: Architect Plots Based on Acreage
Gotcha. So, at the end of the day, it's still a persnickety piece of turn of the century coding. That's a bit sobering, but good to know. It's absolutely amazing to me, though, that we can get real terrain inputs via LiDAR, and the game can handle it, but we still don't know what the upper edge of w...

Architect Plots Based on Acreage
I've been doing some thinking, and some tinkering, with thoughts concerning the PGA2K course architect, it's strengths, and it's limitations. Some simple math tells us that a 10 acre plot is formed by a square 220x220 yards across, a total of 48,400 square yards. That means the standard 2000x2000 se...

Re: Player of the Year?
To my taste, it's neck and neck between Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffle. Advantages to Xander, as his two majors still outweighs (in my opinion) a major and the Olympic gold. The Olympic field just isn't deep enough yet. Hopefully by 2028.

Re: I Stink at this Game
I guess this thread has become my round log. Thanks for the encouragement! Decided to honor my roots, and enter the Northern California Amateur at Passetiempo and Monterrey Shoals. Made birdies on 9 and 18 at Passetiempo, and managed to keep only one double bogey on the card. Shot +3 73 for the day....

Re: I Stink at this Game
Had to do a factory reset a couple months ago. Naturally, I lost anything PGA related, and only just now got around to reinstalling anything. Amatuer tri-clicker on average conditions at Barren Hills, my favorite Silvernail design. Shot 76. Not bad after a triple on the 1st. I still stink at this ga...

I Stink at this Game
OMG, this game can be so frustrating! I can't seem to break 80 no matter what I do. If I wanted this kind of humiliation, I'd go out on the real courses more often. Anybody else struggle with some aspect of the game? My putting is particularly woeful. I am *not* the 0 handicap the game seems to thin...

Rabbit Hole
I loaded up the game, and played Jim Hall's latest creation. It's a good one, a very strong par 70, with one of the par 5's being a true three shot hole. The blends are very even and smooth, and the terrain shaping is finely touched. I particularly enjoyed the 18th hole. Well done, friend.

Re: Chicken or the Egg? "Land" or "Holes?"
But, I enjoy engaging the Architect most when following Polslad's way of working a small group of holes around a particular feature - I'd say that Augusta's Amen Corner has a lot to answer for here, but perhaps it's magnificence is due purely to familiarity. It's been a recent revelation, but I thi...

Re: Chicken or the Egg? "Land" or "Holes?"
Thanks! I have started building a course on the old Deadman's Bluff contest plot. Still testing a few ideas for it. I do agree that it's easier to start with a land form in mind, it's just...a matter of what you can tweak the designer to give you.
