Pixalated Panorama

As I have commented in several threads, I am playing catch up as far as course downloads go. Thought I would check out Tincup's list of the best 40 new courses. Again I randomely chose Dismal Hollow (liked the name). The course plantings and layout looked great but the panorama consisted of huge pixalated green and brown hills that didn't seem to fit with the detailed and realistic course graphics. I am not sure if I have some incorrect graphics settings or if this effect is a limitation of the Course Design program.
Thanks, Dave

stillgolfing! Sometimes us designers experiment with different panos with mixed results. If we didn't, all we would have is clear sunny days with a cloud here and there. Example is my Point Reyes. I wanted a more of a nearby stormy look but I choose the wrong pano. I found one I liked better a few weeks after I released it. OH WELL. But if you like a challenge Point Reyes won't disapoint.

Dave, I am t he designer of Dismal Hollow and yours is not the first complaint about the pano. Steve"s response is the same as mine . You do your best to create something different and sometimes it dose'nt work out as you would like. By the way I got the name on I-60 (I think) in Virginia when I saw a country road sign that read Dismal Hollow Road and I just liked it. Spencer.

Spencer;
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my query. It's so great to hear from the original course designer. I have yet to try my hand at course design here (I was a big FAIL with Links APCD), but being a retired artist and designer I am thinking I might be able to create some great panoramas (I don't have PhotoShop, but the art program I use (Twisted Brush) has about 98% of that programs capabilities. Can anyone replace a PGA2000 course panorama or are the courses locked so no one can edit them (many Links courses are)?
Cheers, Dave

You would need the architect file to change the pano. When a designer compiles their arch file it creates a course file so it can be played in the game.

Actually the pano is in a library so I guess if you really wanted to do it you could by creating a new library with the same name. If the library is just the pano it wouldn't be to hard too do. If there are other things in the library like textures, objects, or sounds you'd have to replace them too. To keep the same things for those without having the original source files you'd have use the library viewer in the architect and take screenshots of each thing to make new source images. Could be done but would be a pretty big hassle. Also you would just want to keep this for yourself because having two libraries with the same name would screw things up for people playing online.

Dave, if it helps you the pano is a stand alone panorama from a library called Pendelton CC. Spencer.

Thanks for the info everyone. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but I was busy playing the game 'cause I recently discovered "The Secret".
