"Teaching" the Course Manager

Chas did a nice job of creating a downloadable version of PGA2000 Software from the original CDs. However, there is a known (minor) problem if you use that software to install the game.

The problem
For whatever reason, the Course Manager does not seem to know what kind of files it can open. Therefore, you will not be able to install courses/libraries.

The Solution
You need to "teach" the course manager what kind of files it can open. Here is how you do it...

There are three kinds of files involved with course/library installation:
1. .crs files (course file).... example arrowhead.crs
3. .clb files (library file)..... example glenmarnock_blend.clb
3. .xcr files (compressed files with courses, libs, screenshots, etc.) example... glenmarnock.xcr

Find a .crs file
Right click on the file
select "open with"
select "Course Manager" from the list
Let it open
install the course

The course manager has now been "taught" that it can open .crs files. Do the same thing with a .clb file and a .xcr file. That's it. The course manager now knows about all three types of files. One time thing.

Note: The first time you do this, the Course Manager may not be on the "Open With" list. No problem. Just click on "Choose Program" then click on "Browse". Browse to your C drive>Sierra Folder>PGA2000 folder>Bin folder. Click on the course manager there.

The next time you use this, the Course Manager will be on the "Open With" list.
