Well season #8 has come to an end except for the Presidents Cup. After a noteworthy Tour Championship making things much more interesting The World Championship conclusion was a disappointment. None of the top 4 received a point. That means my previous post a few days ago top 5 remained unchanged. Dustin Johnson is the Season #8 overall champion and (PLAYER OF THE YEAR). He had a record breaking streak in the middle of the season with 11 of 12 consecutive top ten finishes including 2 victorys. One at The Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial and the other at The BMW International Open. Those 2 victorys only gained him 20 points total and he had a season total of 115 points. That should give you an idea of how many other top ten finishes he had to have to attain that sort of number.
The winner of The World Championship Tournament at TPC Waterloo and Oakmont was Bo Van Pelt at (-15). His strong finish in the final weeks of the season had him making this tournament tied for 19th with 20 in the field. Second was Charl Schwartzel (-13) and third was the red hot Matteo Manassero (-10)
I shot (-2) total for the 4 rounds and tied for 11th. I was (-10) at TPC Waterloo including a 3rd round 62 and (+8) at Oakmont with scores of 4 over 74 in both the 2nd and final round. I will make 1 more post after The Presidents Cup.
Season Play Results
Re: Season Play Results
WHAT A ROUTE ! Team USA defeats the World Team 19 to 9 at Kingston Heath in this seasons Presidents Cup. Everytime it looked as though the World Team was going to get back in contention Team USA would win a couple more matches. The real killer for the Internationals was day 2. The final 5 matches played were all Team USA victory's. I played in 4 out of a possible 5 matches going 3 - 1. I seem to be slowly getting my game back and maybe season 9 (whenever that happens) I can be player of the year again.
This was the 1st year of this slight format change and huge field of players. It worked out well enough that I see little change forthcoming. I will probably try to somehow incorporate the season final tournament of The European Tour (race to Dubi) into one of the final tournaments next season. I'm invisioning a final 4 tournaments being The WGC - HSBC Champions, then either the race to Dubi final or Tour Championship followed by the World Championship. I have a feeling season 9 will be a much closer finish then this season finished.
Of the 51 courses played this season 34 were 1st timers to tourney play. I rated 28 of the 51 courses as A listers. 21 as B listed and 2 that I'll probbably never play again.
From the early season tropical and desert courses to the mid season parkland and wooded layouts to the late season links and mix it was alot of fun and I enjoyed all styles by many GREAT DESIGNERS that this game has to offer.
