I finished up the John Deere Classic earlier tonight, and it was an exciting final round. The winner, Charles Howell III entered the 4th round leading by 2 strokes over John Rollins and Robert Allenby; I was 3 back. I managed to pull into a tie on #7 then a bogey-par 8th put me 2 back. I tied him again on #15, but a bogey on 17 finished me 1 shot shy of a playoff and T2 with Carl Pettersson. This is Howell's second win of the season; he finished at -21. The rest of the top 10:

There was no change in any of the top 10 money winner's rankings.

The last Major for season #8 is in the books. I finished The PGA Championship at The Platinum Course at Stoney Hills C.C. a few days ago but wanted to update my season leaders also. I opened with rounds of 68 & 67. That put me right near the top but I finished with back to back 72's and finished at (-5) and tied for 56th.
There was a 4 way playoff to determine the champ. Tied at (-14) were Aaron Baddeley, Matt Kuchar, Jerry Kelly & The eventaual winner David Toms. 2nd went to Kuchar and Kelly and Baddeley tied for 3rd. Other notables in the top ten were
Bubba Watson, Gary Woodland, Charl Schwartzel and Marc Lieshman.

Next The Wyndham Championship at Hummingbird Haven. Here how things currently stand SORRY FOR THE SLOPPY LOOK BUT THIS POST REPLY AREA KEEPS MESSING UP AND I GIVE UP.

Just got a chance to finish up the Open and the Viking Classic; I waited until Sunday to start and used the real conditions... lots of wind all 4 days, wet on Saturday and Sunday rounds. Dang I wish I could play against my pards like I play in the season mode: 65-63-61-66=255/-29 and a 9 stroke victory for me. So that makes my second major of the year and my second Open championship. That raises my earnings to $12.3M for the season with 5 regular, 1 major, and 4 tour championship events remaining. The rest of the top 10:

Justin Rose picked up his first tour win in the Viking Classic at the TPC @ Egg Harbor, shooting -15 in this 3 round/no cut event. (The field was made up of the players who missed the cut at the Open.) The rest of the top 10:

There was no significant change in the top 10 money earners. First place in the Viking paid almost exactly the same as second place in the Open, about $760,000.

Next stop: The RBC Canadian Open. We only have 1 "real" course for the remaining events (Firestone CC for the WGC Bridgestone) so my pick for the Canadian Open is Leverette Mtn.

Just a quick aside to Steve: I played the first round of the Canadian with Hunter Mahan. He ended up +7, but he actually chipped in for an eagle on #9. That's the first chip-in I've seen all year.

Judy! I've seen the AI players get a hole in 1, or knock it in on a standard shot from the fairway. We all know they consistently drain long big breaking putts but I can't recall EVER seeing a chip in. (Weird)

I'm just starting The Barclays. The whole field gets to play here and any of the other so called playoff events. I finished the Wyndam Championship at Hummingbird Haven and had a very frustrating and strange 36 holes( missed cut ) I had 12 birdies but somehow screwed up enough to post 9 bogeys and 3 doubles. IT WAS A VERY WEIRD 36 holes.
There was a 2 way tie for 1st between Rickie Fowler & Manley Hines with Hines winning. Tied for 3rd were Ben Crane and Briny Baird. Notables in the top 10 were Ryan Palmer and Paul Casey both tied at #10.

The Barclays is being played at Red Dragon.

What a strange game we play... or strange player, anyway. Have you had such a lousy series that you feel like you've never played this game before? That's the way this one went for me. Couldn't hit the fairways, couldn't hit approaches, couldn't chip, couldn't putt... the ball was demon possessed I swear. Anyway, thanks to my idea of increasing the cut number to 75 (to help some of the weaker players, right?) I managed to make the cut, along with 91 other players. No second cut was set. I finished dead last, #92 at +1. And this was on my own course! Oh well, can't win them all and I did make the cut.

Another strange thing. Not a single one of my top players finished in the top 10, but they're so far ahead in earnings that it didn't change anything. Paul Goydos shot -8 in the final round to finish -21 and earned his first victory; this is his third T10 finish of the season. The rest of the T10:

Maybe you and I were a little over confident in our previous tournament because they were played on our own designs. Hummingbird Haven is probably the easiest course I've ever designed but it found its way of punishing me. I'm starting to wonder if all golfers are brain damaged to put up with all the frustrations that the game can dish out

I've made the 1st (2) cuts at the Barclays but haven't started the 3rd round yet.

Doron! Although theres alot of birdie potental holes nobody is tiering up the course. I'm at (-5) after 2 rounds and the leaders are (-11). I'm just not putting that great.

Steve, other than Ullna, I personally don't think any of my designs are easy. I assume they're designed with my weaknesses at least subconsciously in mind (ie, traps around 280-290, trees on the corners, narrow landing areas) and when my timings off, I fall right into them. The frustrating thing is that I never seemed to be in birdie position within 25' of the pin; I overshot the green several times and putts within 10' that I'll usually make 9 out of 10 times I kept missing. But it happens; I've been in that place many times and I'll come out of it... I hope!
