Dar, a couple of reasons the greens seem to have a springiness to them is that you memtioned you were playing on "very dry"conditions and in some cases the greens are what I call banana shaped. Long but narrow which limits the amount of green you have to work with on your approach shots. Some of the par threes require a longer club off the tee which reduces the amount of loft to your shot and tends to run off the back. I used the green texture from a course I have not used before called Glennmarnock which tends to play a little fast(sort of like the greens at the orginal Sawgrass) and adding very dry conditions can make them reallly fast and difficult to hold.
