Yes!
However, don't forget, I'm still playing at the Standard Level (which means I'm being out driven by 50 yds off the tee and out clubbed on the following shots by 3 or 4 clubs; so, in the hope of occassionally being competative in a tournament, I stick with moderate/normal conditions short rough and no wind, except with some courses where I have noted the designer made the default greens really fast. Those I detune to slow (which then play as moderate). I think this allows the computer players to beat the heck out of the courses because, to them, the setup is really really easy.

Hmm, that could be. As I said before I've never been able to figure out how the AI works. I do know that when I actually play with the comp player, 90%+ of the time they play pretty lousy "live." I got to where at the end of last year I'd try to have an uneven number of players so I could play solo and not affect their games. Still it seemed the higher up the leader board they were (ie, the number of "live" holes they played) the higher their score, generally speaking (excepting the first round, which didn't seem as affected for some reason.)

Do you mean "live" if the AI player is playing with you? If so, I noticed that also. Depending on the course, the guy I'm playing against is usually within (+ or -) a couple of strokes of my score, however, unfortunately, there are usually 20 or 30 of the unseen "simulated" players out there beating the course up. Also the scores for those "background" players appears to be adjusted arbitrarily. So sometimes players who were not in contention suddenly show up in the lead or close to it, even though the original leader maintained his stellar play.

Yes, I consider "live" those players I'm actually playing against visibly for the round. Then there are those I'm not playing against but are actively playing their round at the same time I am (the 17 groups before and after I tee off); those who play closest to 17 holes during that time seem to have higher scores than those whose results are strictly "quick" play before or after my round begins/ends. They're the ones that seem to get the -10s.
