Hi Steve,

I'm with you. I love it that, as a designer, we can create something from nothing and then play golf on it. Mind you, you do it better than most and Happy Hollow is just another example of that.

Cheers

Thanks Brad. I kinda' took the question personally I guess but it truly bothers me that this great program was deserted by its makers and it seems people constantly question why we still play (and design) with it. Truth be told most will never truly comprehend the depths of this program and how it can be adapted to todays advanced graphics but WE DO!!

Thanks Tarheel. I wanted to do a Links course using real grass instead of the 'stick' grass that is always associated with this style. I realize a true links style course is always on a coast with sandy style textures but there are many variations to a links course in todays game and my idea was to create a midwest version. I will say that the grass placement is a tedious affair but saddled with this background has made it enjoyable. I'm also designing this one on my new computer in lieu of the old faithful E Machine but I still have been doing my graphic work with it. It's a new experience to design using an updated system with high definition graphics to view the progress. My goal is to make a very challenging course to make the green but once there to be rewarded with a more simple putting surface unless of course you can't get close to the pin and then it's up to you. Thanks for noticing!!

ImageHole #4 offers a majestic view off the tee as well as being the first par 5 on the course. At approximately 555 yards reaching the green in two is very difficult but not impossible. The landing area is protected by a large bunker on the right and a sneaky little bunker invisible from the tee on the left. If you choose to layup on the second shot you have two small rectangular bunkers to the left and a larger one on the right. The green when reached will reward you with a mostly easy putting surface. This is a birdie hole.

Views from the tee, both landing areas and the green.Image

Brad and Tarheel, Thanks! I keep running into problems with this design as I progress. It's probably due to the thousands of objects I'm using to create the grass look I'm seeking but it does worry me. Had a par three that would close the program if you viewed the green close up. That one drove me nuts and it turned out to be a texture problem I've never encountered. Also had several objects that messed up somehow and I've been overly cautious with the .INI file due to the crashing of Hazy Hollow so hopefully I can get through all the damn problems and complete this course. My original plan was to make several courses with this background for obvious reasons but getting this links style design has been a battle.
Tarheel, any idea what's going on with the view counter for the course designs? Some gaudy numbers are popping up.

That seems to be a problem on other forums here too. Its like its getting spammed. Perhaps there are bots? I've also wondered about my posted rounds from the past, with the typical silence on the forums, I was surprised to see so many downloads with no comments. Makes me wonder if there had been bot phantom downloads going on in the background.
